    Case StudyFormulating a Future-Oriented Strategy 

    This 75-minute interactive professional development session is designed to prompt conversations among R&D, innovation, and technology management practitioners on how exemplary cases of innovation can help them approach and think about innovation in their own contexts. This session is built around active participation, so expect to collaborate, analyze, and discuss as you explore innovation case studies. 

    Session topic: 

    Collaborative Scenario Experimentation (CSE) is a foresight exercise and future-oriented strategic planning process. CSE helps organization build resilient strategies that are response to uncertainty. As part of this process, organizations can imagine possible future scenarios and identify actionable steps to prepare for and respond to emerging risks and opportunities.

    The session will feature a case study on the application of CSE at the Innovation Center at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile)The Innovation Center is a key unit at UC Chile that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship by developing policies and partnerships across academia, government, and industry.  

    This professional development session is offered in collaboration with the Research-Technology Management (RTM) Journal.     Session format: 

    This session will feature a presentation and insights by: 

    • Professor Paula WuthAssistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile


    • Professor Leonel MerinoAssistant Professor of Engineering Design at the School of Design and the School of Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile 


    • Professor Igancio Pavez, Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the Facultad de Economía y Negocios, Universidad de Chile 


    The participants will then be assigned to small groups and tasked with discussing and identifying common challenges, available methods, and creative solutions related to the session’s case study and theme. The attendees will return to the plenary and engage in a facilitated conversation to share key takeaways from their small-group discussions, highlighting areas of convergence and divergence and connecting the session’s takeaways back to their work.
